Evergreens

The calendar is full of wacky days and celebrations. Believe it or not, Friday is "Look for an Evergreen Day". Evergreens are beautiful. Not only are they aesthetically pleasing but they are loaded with sensory devices that target exploration. Their prickly needles offer a unique touch and their crisp smell brings back memories of the past. If you look closely at the colors that encapsulate the evergreens, it could easily fill up an artist's easel.
Of course evergreens are most prominent around holidays but one great thing about evergreens is that they are with us through the whole year! They add festive cheer to our houses during the winter and take center stage outdoors until spring and summer. A fun activity to do with pine trimmings is to use them as paint brushes. Dip the needles in paints and watch the patterns appear!
