CREATE!

People are naturally drawn to creating. The feeling of accomplishment that a child feels when they build. Think back to when a child brings you something they have concocted. Do you remember the brightness in their eyes and the sense of pride radiating off them? I think that nature shows us its creation with the same infectious glow. A blooming tree will unveil the blossom in a meek yet proud way at first, shielding the bloom within delicate petals but then bursting forth in a glorious flower. Nature's creations are nothing short of awesome. A child's creation is no less. This week take time to allow for some discovery and wonder. See how your child takes pride in simply creating. It is a powerful tool to feed imagination. When children build they are also building on new skills like fine motor skills, problem solving and rational thinking along with abstract thinking. It is even better when a child creates something with a friend. Social skills are not easily mastered but when a child is given opportunity to connect with other people they practice language skills, social etiquette and respect for others. Check out some of the ways that you can use nature to design something new this week. The possibilities are endless!
